"These lenses look extremely strong. Can you guarantee a safe return?"

"Absolutely, 100%".

"And what is the connection with your childhood in this Lane?"

"Well, I told you about how my Gran triggered my fascination for women in glasses. So I started observing them cautiously in the streets, wondering if they were magicians like my Gran. I saw no magic in women wearing plus glasses. But some women in minus glasses gave me the impression that they had more magic in them than my Gran. You could see a tiny image of the background moving along with them wherever they went. And this could only mean that they had total control over their surroundings. Real magicians have that quality. Mind you, I was a boy of six. But there was one category that did not fit into my thoughts about magicians. All women in extremely strong glasses seemed to be quite shy when you looked at them. There were no contact lenses in those days, let alone laser surgery. So there were quite a few women who were forced to wear coke bottles. The contradiction intrigued me".
