"Did these stairs already exist when you lived here in your school days?"
"No. There was a small lock in the canal, a bit further towards the Lane. So it was not practical to have a boat. Besides, my parents loved the Alps. We only used the canal for ice skating in severe winters. My mother let down a long ladder on the ice and we changed our shoes for skates, sitting on the lock. If you dare, you can step on the bow of the boat. The owner just gave us permission. We probably get better light and better pictures".
"Like this? No time machine, please".
