The inventor and the model headed for a T junction and then turned left.

"Are all these villas on the right situated at the canal?"

"Indeed they are. And if you look back, you can see the end of the Lane"

"Is there a bridge over the canal at the end of this street?"

"Yes. That was the limit of the city when we moved to here when I was nine. So we had a great playground. The big house is near the bridge".

When they reached the house, the gate was open so they could admire the place.

"It's huge. Was your father in business?"

"Yes. A family business. He became director after the death of his father when I was two. They imported spice from Indonesia and South America. We have to respect the privacy of the present owners but they won't mind if I take some pictures of you standing at the hedge".

"Alright. Show me the glasses you have in mind".

Out came the shoe box and the inventor handed the model a pair of red cat eye glasses.

"The lenses are minus eight. The frame is modern but it's very much in the classic style of the late fifties, don't you think?"

"They are beautiful. No time machine? Only adaptation to the lenses?"

"Yes, for the three modern glasses. You can try a vintage pair next. That may bring the time machine"

"Alright, here we go....". To the model's surprise, the adaptation went quite fast. "Why is that?"

"Ah, the previous pair was also minus eight. Somehow your eyes remember that"

"OK, I'm ready for the camera".
