Nicole 014
Lunettes Elcé are a now thing of the past. They were in business for at least four decades but had to stop their activities last year, sending a dozen life long devoted employees to the dole. My collection hosts several examples of their work. Some Elcé glasses - one pair dating from 1976 - were shown in previous photo shoots but the honour goes to Nicole for being the first to pose in the pair shown here. My educated guess is that the first owner had perfect long distance vision and used them as reading glasses only. During the 1970's and 1980's, many middle aged ladies preferred large size reading glasses for aesthetic reasons. The advantage of this choice is that their glasses for presbyopia can now be used in a photo shoot with a young longsighted model.
