The Viennaline glasses Nicole is wearing here were highly popular during the first half of the 1970's and they only disappeared from the streets at the start of the next decade. The frame came in several colours. My collection hosts four examples of this bestseller including a yellow pair. The frame was remarkably airy for its time and this may have contributed to its popularity. The thin frame was not suitable for high minus prescriptions and I only remember sightings of young ladies with fairly mild prescriptions. One of these young ladies was a lovely medical student who studied in the university library in the evenings. Her memory enabled me to put a year of manufacture on these beautiful Viennaline glasses.
