The idea behind the concept of the floating lens shown in the previous series was that at least a glimpse of the eye could be seen "en profil". However, a much better idea was already developed in the late 1970's. Drop temple glasses.... Young ladies wearing this new style made for fascinating sightings in the streets. Unfortunately, drop temple glasses disappeared completely upon the arrival of small, dull retro frames in 1988. So far, no brand has the guts to revive the style. Not even Zenni.... What a pity!
