The Love Summer of 1967 brought the first hippies to Amsterdam and within a few years they were all over the place. Many of these hippies were sporting round frames popularized by the late John Lennon. But octagonal glasses were also popular among hippie girls. The style disappeared when the former hippies changed into yuppies during the 1980's. Surprisingly, no brand ever made a serious attempt to revive the style. Chanel liked these octagonal glasses straightaway when she discovered them on the selection table and she was absolutely right!
