Dana 060

These monumental glasses belong to the legendary first collection ever by Christian Dior. It's safe to say that this collection took the stage by storm. Everything about the frames was unique and above all, different from anything designed by anyone before. Living and working in Switzerland during the summer of 1976, I suddenly noticed an aesthetic revolution in the streets. Swiss ladies tended to be quite conservative but within weeks many of them were sporting ultra modern prescription glasses with the logo "CD" stamped on the arms. High time for a look in the windows of opticians. And for sure, the collection was on display. Bold frames. Only a choice between red, blue and green. The price was astronomic. Twelve years later I came across these red glasses at the "Waterlooplein" flea market in my native Amsterdam and bought them straightaway, without bargaining. The princely price was five guilders.
