Merle 065
The young musician mentioned that she would prefer large magic glasses. So she was delighted when the inventor handed her a large pair that could easily have passed for one of the giant glasses from the early or mid 1970's.
"That's grand, Rob. These glasses really match with my outfit. I will be a very shortsighted Janis in a minute or two"
"You may have to push them higher up during the song. Do you mind a couple of short interruptions for that?"
"Not at all. My everyday aviator glasses often slide down my nose when I play in the streets. Each song has its suitable moments to push my glasses up without a real interruption"
"Remember to keep your eyes at least slightly open throughout the song. If you close them longer than two seconds, your own vision starts coming back and you will see everything in a blur with these glasses on"
"That's a hard one but I'll do my best. I'm used to close my eyes in certain parts of a song"
"Sounds familiar. I do the same at concerts, to withdraw and concentrate. All singers do it"
"One thing I noticed with the blue cat eye glasses is that the lenses make everything look sharp but smaller than through my own glasses. Everything seemed a bit further away. That may be a handicap when I'm watching my fingers to get the right chords. But there is just one way to find out"
"That's the spirit".
He handed her the large magic glasses and she put them on her nose. Slowly opening her eyes, she looked amused and said
"I'm back in the fog. Hard to believe that everything is about to clear up"
"Not to worry, Merle. You will be fine within a minute"
"I will concentrate on the neck of the guitar. That may help me estimating the distance"
